Whether you’re newly engaged, or you have been to a show or two, the Bridal Show experience can be a little over whelming. This is why we feel it is warranted to; once again, give you some tips to help you through this experience to keep it fun, informative and happy. Most are standard “oh but of course” suggestions but one or two may just surprise you.
1. Preregister for the show. Often this will get you a discounted rate and now that you are thinking “wedding budget” why not start saving here. Often pre-registering will get you printed labels you can use, saving you valuable time and writers cramps, for all the mailing lists and freebies you will be signing up for. If not, make your own and include your name, email address, phone number and wedding date.
2. Wear comfortable shoes and have bottled water with you. Sore feet and being thirsty can turn any happy bride-to-be into well let’s just say, less than happy to be around.
3. Ask questions and be ready to act. Have a list of the vendors you would like visit along with specific questions you may have for them. Make sure to write down any suggestions or prices quoted to you. That is why they are there. Be ready to act. Many vendors have specials that are available only the day of the show. If it is something you are specifically looking to purchase or someone you want to hire, take the time talk with them, fill out the contract, sign the check and enjoy the savings.
4. Now for the one that may surprise you. If your fiancé is reluctant about going or just isn’t into the planning aspects of the wedding, please don’t make him go. This may just ruin what should be a fun, creative time for you. I mean seriously, how many times can hear; “whatever you want” or “I don’t care” before totally losing it right there in the middle of the bridal show.
5. Strength is not in numbers when attending a bridal show. The fewer the better, your mom, your maid-of-honor or a bridesmaid. Unlike the fiancé with the “I don’t care” attitude your whole wedding entourage will have plenty of opinions and may become a little overwhelming.
6. Time is of the essence. If there were vendors that you are interested in contact them the next day or the day after. They are there to book brides and you may find that if you wait too long the ideal vendor may be unavailable. She who hesitates get’s the not so fun Dj.
