A Halloween Wedding? Spooktacular!!
Halloween starts the beginning of a magical time of the year, holiday after holiday to follow.
It is celebrated on October 31st which is the last day of the Celtic calendar. It originated in Ireland and was a pagan holiday honoring the dead. It was called All Hallows Eve and has been celebrated for over 2000 years.
The Irish believed it to be a magical holiday. The night before the New Year, the wall that separated the living and the dead was opened, allowing all the spirits of the dead to mingle with the living, whether they were good or bad. Now that can be a little scary!!
Halloween turned into a secular holiday in the mid twentieth century, with party’s city-wide, parades, and amazing costumes, not unlike the wedding celebration. Okay maybe less the parades, but the party, amazing costumes and decorations are consistent with both and are enjoyed by young and old alike.

Having such an extreme themed wedding isn’t for everyone and isn’t intended to take away from the importance of the wedding celebration. Its purpose is to add a little more fun and festivity to the wedding and to create a more memorable day for both for the bride and groom as well as their guest. The realistic elements you can add are endless and most likely sitting on the shelves at your neighborhood store.
At the end of the day, whether traditional or extreme, you are husband and wife (or Dracula and the Bride of Dracula.) Happy Haunting :-)
