Tanning Green

Don’t panic, we’re not actually suggesting that you turn your skin green. I would not suggest this without first trying it myself, which is exactly what I did and to be honest with you I was a bit skeptical myself.  I am happy to say I didn’t turn orange and I was very happy with the natural look and color I received.

I do suggest that if you decide to get a spray tan of any type that you make an appointment at least a month before your wedding date to make sure you are completely happy with this decision.  Pay close attention to and follow the instructions given to you prior to your appointment.  Remember when booking your appointment the time involved is more than the 15 to 20 minutes it takes to spray you.  You could be sticky for several hours afterward do to the caramel colored product that is used so they can track their spray pattern.  A minimum of six hours is required before showering and for the best results they suggest, if possible, to sleep overnight on it.

Consider the time of year you are getting married, if it’s a winter wedding, a deep, dark St. Tropez tan maybe a bit much, especially if your fiancé is a bit on the white side. J

Crazy Dog Lady

My kids call me the “Crazy Dog Lady” and tonight I do believe I proved them right.  My best friend asked me if I would watch her 13 year old Golden Retriever “Roxy” while she went to

Poso Robles for a two day wine tasting adventure.  Not invited, but then that’s another story.

I said yes without hesitation.  The offer included staying at her adorable, quiet, pristine house with chilled wine in the refrigerator.  Since Roxy had been fed in the morning I didn’t need to be there until evening.  When I got there I gave Roxy her medicine, played with her a bit and sat down with my book and a glass of the chilled wine.  Guilt free reading, gotta love it.  

After an hour and a half I made the decision to go back home instead of spending the night at her house.  Not an easy decision but I have a wedding in one week in Beverly Hills and felt the need to be working instead of kicking back and relaxing.  But now the guilt sets in, what to do about leaving the dog?

I had a light bulb moment.  I decided to go lay down on the bed, Roxy followed me in and laid down on her rug.  When she started to snore I slowly crept out of the room, just like when my oldest daughter was 3 and I laid down with her so she would nap.  Did I mention that Roxy is deaf making me escape just a little bit easier.  She is none the wiser and I am home working, writing this blog and sleeping in my own bed.  Everybody is HAPPY!  We’ll see about spending the night tomorrow night.  

Not exactly a Creative Party Concept but definitely a Creative Concept, but just imagine if I was coordinating your event or wedding.  If I am this concerned about a dog imagine the attention you will get from me.

Trains, Planes & Shuttles

If any of you have seen the movie "Trains, Planes and Automobiles" than you just may appreciate this story a little more than others. My Canada trip last month started with getting up at 4:00 a.m. on a Saturday morning. Packed and ready to go my son, Dane, drives me to LAX, for what is to turn out to be an amazing two day Wedding Planners Retreat with Rock Star Wedding Planner, Ciara Daykin, and 9 other wedding planners. I know it will be two full days of knowledge, experience and emotion, but I am getting ahead of myself. Back to LAX.

Got there 2 1/2 hours before the flight. Good start. Then I find out that the handy dandy little credit card sized Passport that I had expedited to me is only good for travel into Canada by land or sea. What?! I called Dane back, he picked me back up and we sat in the parking lot of a fast food restaurant. He on his Iphone and me on my Blackberry trying to book travel arrangements. Long story short, I will be on a plane to Seattle, Washington. From there I drive, thank you for the rental with a GPS Brittany, to Vancouver, Canada and then on a flight to Calgary, Canada. Seven hours later than originally intended I am there. All is good, Ally is already there.

Two days of all day sessions, breaks, more sessions and then dinner with the group. We are now at 6:00 a.m. Wednesday. Did I mention that in order to accomplish this I had to alter my return date from Tuesday to Wednesday? Well I did, no problem. Off to the airport in Calgary to reverse the process to come home. Flew from Calgary to Vancouver, check. Went to get the rental car, problem, they don't take debit cards, checks or cash and the credit card didn’t have enough on it for the second round of rental car. Don't panic, call Brittany in the states and ask for HELP! Well 3 1/2 hours later I am now on a bus crossing the border back into the United States. Two more hours and I will be at Seattle airport waiting for another four hours before getting on an Alaska Airlines flight to LAX. Forty five minute car ride to Thousand Oaks and hello home! Now for those of you that know me, my glass is usually half full so for the half full part of this story besides all the amazing ideas to be implemented into Creative Party Concepts, I get to fly first class from Seattle to LAX.

Welcome!

I want to take this time to welcome Allyson Beckerle to Creative Party Concepts. Allyson started with me at the beginning of May and has already helped advance our social networking and is creating and implementing new systems and processes for us.

I was fortunate to have Allyson join me last week in Calgary Canada for a two day Wedding Planners Retreat with my master mind group, Rockstar Wedding Planners. Allyson has an enormous amount of energy and endless amounts of ideas. She is going to be a huge asset in growing Creative Wedding Consultants, a division being added to Creative Party Concepts.
